Last June I was able to take a helicopter ride to the top of Yanert Glacier, near Denali National Park in Alaska, then land on the jagged ice and spend time walking around, viewing some spectacular scenes like this one. The “lake” seen here contains melt water from the glacier, and the turquoise colors were spectacular. It was much larger in person than it appears here, plus we were under tight control of our pilot while walking around, due to numerous deep crevasses and unstable nature of portions of the glacier. Cost me a bundle to take the two-hour ride up and back, but it was worth it.
