I took my original photo of Buffalo Mountain along the Blue Ridge in Virginia, with the red-roofed house sitting on a ridgeline in front, and applied an effect in Photoshop to make it look like a framed painting. The story goes that people once living in this area would tell their children they could go where ever they wanted, so long as they could always see the “buffalo”. That way, they would never get lost. I’ve hiked to the top of Buffalo Mountain and the views are spectacular, seeing as far away as North Carolina on a clear day.
