Deserted at the Crossroads

On one of my recent photo road trips, I came to the junction of two narrow paved roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and saw this deserted building, which I assume at one time was some sort of store. I looked for evidence of painted advertisements on the sides of the building but could not find any. It’s at rural road junctions like this where I find similar buildings, and I think how it must have been when horse-drawn wagons passed by hauling produce to an fro, stopping at the store to drop off part of their load, or else going inside for a cool or warm drink and good conversation.
