Getting Close

Sometimes when composing a close-up photo it’s fairly obvious what the image is…like the top one. On the other hand, identifying items in a close-up photo is not always easy. The bottom one, for example, is a hanging wax candle chandelier in an outside pavilion at a winery I recently visited. Many photographers much better than me advise not to make an image you have to explain, but I don’t always follow the rules…photographically speaking. I wanted to show symmetry in the bottom image…not specifically what it was.
