Into the Woods

IMG_0311

Last week I was in Maggie Valley, NC with my daughter and son-in-law looking at prospects for a new home in Western NC. After crossing this wonderful little stream, with dappled sunlight filtering through the trees above, they found their new home just waiting for them.

I can’t think of a more inviting way to get to there than crossing that little stream. Beauty is all around us!

Maggie Valley Day

I recently returned from a two-day visit to Maggie Valley, NC with our daughter and her husband, who are buying a mountain home there. Beautiful place there. I made some nice images that I want to share. The mountains of Virginia and North Carolina are my absolute favorite place to go. Thank you Lord!

Near the Water

When I made these two photos, I didn’t expect them to look like they were taken at a place far removed from where they were, Martinsville VA. In fact, I thought they looked a lot like many I’d made in Alaska. Dark, colorful and inviting. That’s one reason why I like photography so much.

Wildflowers

Where we live in SW Virginia there are numerous wildflowers blooming this time of year alongside many roads and walkways. Yesterday while walking with my Grandson Michael, I spotted some nice ones, just waiting for me…and Michael.

Best Camera

There’s no question in my mind at least, that the “best” camera is the one you have with you at the time you see a perfect photo opportunity. iPhone 6s camera for example, which I always have in my pocket. Thus, I hardly ever miss recording such beauty (below) as I did over the past few days. In case you’re wondering, I also use (a lot) my Fuji X100t and Panasonic GX7 and love them dearly. My big Nikon DSLR (D300) is packed away, but in it’s day I loved it too. Just not lugging it around. I just flat LOVE making photos!
