Dogwoods at Easter

The Commonwealth of Virginia designated the American Dogwood as its floral emblem in 1918. The neighborhood where we live in SW Virginia has numerous dogwood trees, white and pink. Our yard is no exception. Because the timing of its flowering transformation every year generally coincides with Easter, it has a special religious meaning to many. The flowers don’t last long, but I’m ahead of them this year.
