The Moon is always a welcome photo subject, especially when it’s seen in late afternoon. I was fortunate to make a composition with the subject in the midst of bare tree limbs during a recent cold walk in the woods.

Winter is a wonderful time of peeking in windows and seeing the moon rise through tree branches and twigs. This is a nice sharp focus on the moon with a beautiful blue sky as night falls. I feel like the moon is pulling the trees, and my thoughts, into a slow whimsical dance. The blurry branch closest to me gives a dream like quality to the photo. A cell phone would have had the sharp focus on the closest branch, and your blur of that closest branch reminds me of how times have changed. But also things have stayed the same for eons, everywhere, as our ancestors looked up and admired the same moon.
