The Eyes of a Butterfly

Many non-photography people see butterflies as they appear to the naked eye … colorful, soft flyers with interesting patterned wings. To me, however, I enjoy taking photos that show these wonderful insects in a different way … close up and personal.

I never expected to see spotted eyes on this Speckled Fritillary this morning on top of our Cone flowers. This is why I love photography. Simple as that.

    1. Thanks. I was really surprised by the eyes. That perhaps means I need to position myself so as to get more of their body and less of their wings … my usual composition. Compliment to you too because it’s your work that inspires me.
